Going Small in Living Room Furniture

At Tucson Furniture Connextion, we know that sometimes you don’t have a lot of room to work with when it comes to laying out living room furniture in your Tucson home. We’ve put together a few ideas and tricks to making sure your living room uses the space you have to the best capacity and can even make your space feel bigger.

Choose a Focus Point

If you have a fireplace in your living room, a large piece of art on a wall or even just your TV on a TV stand, try arranging the furniture in a cozy rectangle or square around it. Keep in mind, all of the furniture doesn’t need to be facing that area in order for it to be a focus point.

Use Area Rugs

If you have an open space that needs a little help defining in section, try using area rugs along with your furniture placement to help bring focus to each small section. Keep your styles and color palette flowing through the whole space to make sure it all continues to tie together.

Create a Dividing Wall

To help further define each space, use your sofa as a dividing wall. You could also use a bookshelf as discussed in our previous post, but you want to make sure that it is a low bookshelf. This will help keep the openness of the room and make sure that the area doesn’t begin to feel smaller.

Use Small Side Tables

Instead of using a full size coffee table that might take up too much room, use two small side tables or even nightstands. They can work just as well to hold books, candles or drinks as a regular coffee table but they give you more versatility in arranging the tables to fit your needs.

Use Mirrors for Wall Décor

We’ll never get tired of this age old trick to help make a small room feel larger and more open! Mirrors help open up a space with the reflection of room. They also create more light in a room because of their reflection. Choose a simple but interesting design to give your mirror the added function of art.

Whether you are working with a room that is big or small, Furniture Connextion is the place for all of your home furnishing needs. Stop in soon and take advantage of our Summer Sale with items marked up to 70% off! It doesn’t get any hotter than that!
